Built Above a River Branch, Not Beside It
Woodridge's original 1958-59 development deliberately sited its first subdivision on a ridge above the DuPage River's East Branch, and the village incorporated in August 1959 with just 459 residents. That elevated siting was meant to put distance between the new homes and the river branch below.
Elevation Helps, But Storms Still Arrive
